Does your local library have audiocassettes of old radio programs? Molly would definitely have listened to the radio for mystery stories, westerns, etc., as well as news about the war.

How about collecting scrap metal as a project? Soda cans, for example, and then turn them in at the grocery store.

I went to two Molly days at Strawberry Banke living museum in NH and the crafts for both days involved making things with felt. We made felt "Lone Ranger" style masks for Halloween and decorated them with cut out pieces of felt. Another time we made badges decorated with felt that had a theme related to WWII. My mother made a diamond shaped badge with an aircraft carrier on it because my father was stationed on the Midway during WWII. But any kind of felt craft would be in keeping for Molly. You can make felt badges into pins by sewing a safety pin on the back -- glue the decorations down with Elmer's or Aleene's tacky glue.
